Mommy is Going to a Party Next Week and I Can't Go

Mommy has informed me that she is going to a party next Thursday. She is going to meet the man in this photo. Mommy says his real name is James but when I see him inside the box that has the people in it they call him EJ. Go figure. James never has a dog with him in the box but here's a picture that shows he has a dog. So, he can't be all bad. Actually, I'd like to meet her, she's kinda cute. I hear that we go to the same dog park. Who knows, a beagle can dream. I don't know what my girlfriend, Lucy, would say....but what she doesn't know.....WOOF!

When I was very sick Mommy and I watched James' show together. Mommy was very sad, this man, EJ, made her laugh and even giggle. I love it when Mommy laughs. It makes me wag my tail. Back then, I didn't feel too much like wagging my tail. I am just glad that he made my Mommy happy. If I ever meet him, I'll wag my tail for him.

I am new to this...

I can't type, so my Mommy has to do it for me. I hope you will understand.

Let me tell you a little about me. I was born in Indiana. My mommy and her daughter, Kate, discovered me in a pet store in Bloomington. We fell in love and I got to go home with my mommy and sister the same day! That was in October 2006.

I have a sibling, Scruffy. I will try to post a picture of her. At 13, she's my very-much-older sister. We get along okay, most of the time. She likes my toys and won't let me play with them. Scruffy also likes to steal my treats, which bugs me no end. So, I bark at her.

My puppyhood was great fun. I got into all kinds of mischief. My mommy got mad at me sometimes, but she always forgave my indiscretions. I really didn't want to be potty trained. I liked her carpets alot. She ended up getting rid of the carpets and put in hardwood flooring just for me! Mommy loves me a lot, but I really think it was because she didn't want to have a dirty carpet.

Life was idylic for me. Mommy walked me before she left me during the day. She went to work all day and when she came home, we would go out for a nice long walk. I like my walks a lot. But, Mommy thought I wasn't very well behaved. So, she hired a private teacher for me. I tried and tried to get all this stuff down, like sit, stay, down, walk...but I really didn't want to. Mommy got pretty frustrated. So, she sent me to boarding school for a whole month! I didn't like that too well at first, but once I got to know all of my classmates, I didn't mind.

After a month, I was a very good dog. I knew all of my commands. I could walk well on a lead and everything. Mommy was so proud of me. She took me everywhere with her because she liked me to show off.

Like I said, life was good. We watched TV together -- you can see in my picture that she lets me have control of the remote sometimes. We have a few favorite shows. My favorite is The Dog Whisperer. Her favorite is Days of our Lives. (I'll talk more about that later.) We always watch football together and I wish I could get out there and catch the ball!

Speaking of football, I bet you're wondering, why am I called Tommy Trojan? Well, Mommy went to school at someplace called USC. She loves the Trojans and the school mascot is named Tommy Trojan...so don't be confused...I am not named after a condom!

I digress...anyway, I lived in Indiana for a whole year until my Mommy got a job in a place called California. She lived there for a long time and wanted to go back. So, I went with her.

California is great. I like it a lot because it's warm and there is an ocean! And there are these big things called mountains. So neat! Also, I got to go to a really cool doggie day care called Holiday Pet Hotel and Day Care in Encinitas. I highly recommend it.

My Mommy took me to daycare on Monday through Friday while she had to work. I had all kinds of friends and playmates there. The humans were nice and the other dogs were fun. Alas, I didn't get to stay there as long as I wanted to because Mommy lost her job at that silly place she worked.

So, Mommy and I moved from Carlsbad to Fountain Valley, near Los Angeles. Scruffy, Mommy and I live with Zeeta, the Wonder Dog, her mommy, Polly, and Polly's daughter, Elise. We all get along well. I like the fact that I have a big back yard and a new playmate. But, I do miss doggie day care.

Mommy tells me that Polly is somebody she worked with at a place called Xerox, a long time ago. They were both married then (but not to each other) and now they are not married. Polly rents a room to us. Scruffy, Mommy and I sleep together in this one room. It's fun, but they snore. They tell me that I snore, too.

Ever since I moved to the L.A. area, my Mommy has been taking me on great adventures. I get to go to the beach -- they have this really cool dog beach in Huntington. I run and run and run. She also takes me to other hot spots -- like Runyon Canyon and the Laurel Canyon Dog Park. They are my favorite places because there are so many other dogs there. It's like doggie day care in the big outdoors.

However, recently, I got sick. Very sick. I was playing pretty hard one day with Zeeta and I came up lame. I hurt all over. Mommy tried to take care of me but she had to take me to the vet. Luckily, she took me something called the emergency hospital. It's a good thing, too. I had to have emergency surgery for something really icky -- an inguinal hernia. They had to take part of my intestine out and sew me back up.

Mommy was very, very scared. She came to see me every day and held me in her arms. I was so glad to see her even though I was in a lot of pain. The nice people at the hospital made sure I got better. I take some yucky medicines that make me feel silly and then very sleepy.

I got to go home after 4 days in the hospital. I am glad to be home but Mommy is being over protective of me. She won't let me go out and play for two whole weeks! I think the doctors are making her.

Well, Mommy's fingers are getting tired so I will stop for now. I will update you tomorrow.
